Grandpa's Visit & Progress On The House

Since we just moved into our first house this past year, we have not had a need for very much furniture. We have realized lately that when there is no where to sit, you have to sit on the floor or just hang out in the same room all of the time. One of the local Furniture Row stores had a clearance sale on several of their floor models. We had our eye on one couch and over the last couple of weeks have been stopping by to see if it is still there. Yesterday I stopped by with Rusty and they were literally writing down the new price on the couch as I walked up. After some negotiating, I got them to knock off an additional 50 bucks and we had a deal. They only flaw was a small worn spot in the cushion. Luckily the cushions are reversible so we flipped the cushions and BAM!, new couch. It is really soft and very deep which is nice for us long-legged folk. It screams NAPTIME! We love bargains and for some reason they always feel so much more comfortable knowing I have a little more cash in the bank account afterward.
My main Saturday project the last two weekends has been the kitchen floor tile. I did most of it last weekend and will be finishing it up this week hopefully. I borrowed a wet-saw from a friend and will be able to make the cuts and finish up the floor. We like the look of it and will hopefully be able to find enough to continue it into our "new" dining area and into our hallway and entry area. While Wayne was here they were able to attend an afternoon Rockies baseball game, do some birthday shopping for Van, and visit the zoo. Unfortunately when Saturday got here the weather went downhill. It rained most of the day and when it wasn't raining or trying to snow, the wind was whipping. This meant no golfing. Oh well. We found a great BBQ restaraunt though and had a fun time at dinner Friday night.Saturday we went bowling and while we were there they had Game Show night. I signed up for it and was the first name drawn. I competed "The Price Is Right" style and had to guess the price of a washer-dryer unit. We all overbid and then I guessed the closest. They gave me a Seahawks jacket for being within 100 dollars of the actual price. After that I played Card-shark where you have to guess if the next card is higher or lower. I had to get 7 cards in a row, which I did. We won some free pizza out of it. All in all we had a great weekend and can't wait to have Grandpa come back to visit.
